LAN IT/Operator (Comm Suites) – Job Code: W0745A

Job Summary:

Operator – watch-stander – the LAN IT/operator shall operate all equipment to meet Flagship mission requirements for communication of unclassified and classified (up to Top Secret) message traffic (both voice and electronic). The communications service must be operational 24/7. In addition this person will be the backup for the LAN IT Manager whenever the LAN IT Manager is not on board the flag vessel. All instructions and duties will be the same as the LAN IT Manager when this assistance is required. The LAN IT/ Operator reports to the Deployed Detachment Manager (a Dyn Marine representative).

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Watch-stander and provide backup support to the LAN IT Manager as needed – all instructions will be coordinated with the Deployed Detachment Manager

    Physical Requirements

    Watch-stander will work aboard the squadron flagship and will stand watch in the communication suite. Work is 8 hours per day 7 days a week. All work is performed aboard the squadron flag ship which is stationed in one of three areas – Mediterranean, Western Pacific and Indian Ocean. Be able to board and work on a vessel in both at port and at sea conditions. Some lifting is required but weight is within acceptable limits for a healthy person.

    All work is performed while aboard contracted vessels located outside the continental United States

    Diego Garcia
    Pacific (Guam/Saipan)
    Mediterranean


    *Assignment schedule normally has individual being assigned to a squadron for 4 months and then going on vacation for 2 months – this schedule can be adjusted based on operational situation for personnel and squadron schedules.
    Benefits: Housing and meals on vessel, Transportation from HOR to and from the vessel, Per Diem while traveling to work site.

    Experience:

    Prior U. S. Navy communications skills are desired especially in the area of EKMS, crypto handling and MCSE experience. Position requires this person to be MCSE qualified (2000 or 2003 level).

    Education:

    Prior U.S. Navy communications courses are desired or equivalent.
    At least high school graduate and all the basic U.S. Navy communications schools offered for radio and communications qualifications*
