Quality Control Safety Coordinator – Job Code: 610884

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Safety Coordinator reports to the DynCorp International (DI) Site Project Manager. Duties of this individual focus on technical tasks and responsibilities to assure the required work is being performed properly. The Quality Control Safety Coordinator is responsible for QC materials testing and the monitoring of construction activities at a DI construction site on a full time basis. Design specification familiarity will be required to facilitate construction, site access and utility services placement at specified camps and projects. Construction coordination and monitoring involves facilitating the obtaining of construction related permits and insuring subcontractors are performing their work in accordance with the contract and established Safety and Quality criteria.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To assist with the following phases/actions: project start-up; project construction management; project/contract modifications due to differing site conditions; scheduled inspections of subcontractor performance; project acceptance and close out
  • Follow a weekly schedule of activities developed by the Site Construction Manager. This will be supplemented with project status reports to include project construction schedules
  • To orient subcontractors prior to construction, to review SOP’s and procedures for the sub-contracting of facility projects and quality control programs
  • Monitor construction activities and their compliance with plans and specifications from start to finish
  • Conduct pre-construction and regular construction progress meetings with subcontractors, as needed
  • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, requirements, work rules, and that all violations are documented and include recommendations for corrective actions to be taken
  • Request for approval any added/deleted items of work, as needed that will enhance construction quality results
  • Review and approve all materials to be used in construction are in accordance with contract drawings and specifications
  • Act as Liaison between DI and subcontractor project managers/superintendents on matters related to planning, permitting, potential disruptions, approvals, work progress, and scheduling
  • Exercise during construction complete authority and responsibility to take any action necessary to ensure contract compliance
  • Assist in the commissioning of completed projects as they become ready for turnover after fulfilling all contract requirements
  • Prepare the Daily Quality Control Report
  • Work closely with project Construction Manager or Engineers and back them up when necessary
  • To conduct project surveys using organic office equipment
  • Orient contractors prior to construction, to review SOP’s and procedures for the subcontracting of facility projects and the health, safety, and environmental programs
  • Exercise during construction complete authority and responsibility to take any action necessary to ensure contract compliance
  • Assist in the commissioning of completed projects as they become ready for turnover after fulfilling all contract requirements
  • Tend to any related special requirements that the Site Construction Manager deems necessary

    Knowledge & Skills

  • Must have a detailed knowledge of Quality Control techniques and practices, and the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Has the ability to read plans and specifications, interpret and explain program data and follow schedules
  • Familiar with the United States Army Corps of Engineers Resident Management System, EFARs, DR Checks, SharePoint, P-6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Suites are preferred

    Physical Requirements:

  • Extreme danger, stress, physical hardships and possible field living conditions associated with this position within a desert camp complex.
  • Must be able to work, kneel, bend, and stoop, and have correctable vision.
  • The working environment may be remote, confined and isolated, and travel in the local area may be very restricted.

    Experience & Education:

  • 4-6 years of related work experience that includes site construction, Quality Control, and ISO-9000 responsibilities. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked on US Government and military international projects. Must be familiar with the U.S. Government Federal Acquisition Regulations. Experience in the use of documents relating to the development of projects, contracting, and construction is necessary.
  • A 4 year Bachelors Degree in Engineering from a nationally accredited and recognized institution of higher education is preferred. Related certification(s) are desired. Also the individual performing in this position must have completed, or be able to complete, the course entitled “Construction Quality Management for Contractors”.
  • Must have completed, or be able to complete, the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Course.
